Using smart data to explore economic wellbeing
11 November 2025, Midday to 1:00pm
Our Financial Data Services (FINDS) invites you to the launch of its Economic Wellbeing Explorer, a pioneering data and insight platform designed to shine a light on the drivers of economic wellbeing.
Originally developed to explore Scotland’s economic resilience, the Explorer now expands to include England and Wales.
Powered by anonymised insights from more than five million NatWest Group current accounts, combined with official statistics and open data sources, the Explorer provides an unparalleled view of economic life across Great Britain.
For the first time, decision-makers, researchers, and communities can access a unified picture of wellbeing at both local and national levels, bringing together trusted data to support inclusive growth and better policy outcomes.
This unique dataset captures real patterns of income, spending, and financial resilience, enabling a richer understanding of how people and places are faring. By transforming these complex data streams into clear, actionable insights, the Explorer delivers a powerful evidence base for more effective policy, investment, and community action.
Aims and objectives
Through discussion and live demonstrations, the FINDS team will showcase how the smart data behind the Explorer helps answer critical questions such as:
- How is economic wellbeing changing across Britain?
- What regional inequalities remain hidden in traditional measures?
- How can data-driven insights improve decision-making for people, places, and communities?
