Research into practice: Masterclass

Wednesday, June 17, 2026| 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm| Online | Free

The PhD & ECR Community Network Knowledge Basecamp is designed to be a collaborative, peer-supported space built specifically for our Community. Throughout this series, we will move away from standard academic lectures and instead focus on practical career toolkits, workspace wellbeing, and candid discussions with expert mentors who have successfully navigated the early-career landscape.

To kick off this initiative, we are thrilled to invite you to our very first session!

What We Will Cover

This session will reflect on the option of trying to get your academic research into the world of practice. Together, we will examine the context and the idea of translating academic messages into ones that can reach beyond science. Dani will then illustrate this process with a real-world example, and we will continue the conversation with an interactive group discussion.

Dani’s Discussion Prompts

To make the most of our interactive discussion time, Dani has provided three core prompts that we will be diving into:

  1. Why did you get into academic research?
  2. What do you think you’d gain from trying to translate your research into applied messages?
  3. What do you think would be “lost in translation”?

Optional Prep: You are highly encouraged (but not required) to reflect on these questions or jot down a few thoughts in advance of the session!
