Dr Leonardo Castro Gonzalez
Leonardo is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol, where he works at the School of Geographical Sciences. His areas of expertise are natural language processing and network science.
Leonardo’s research focuses on developing methods and tools to answer policy-relevant questions from Computational Social Sciences. He works with concepts and methods from network science, information theory and mathematical and statistical modelling, and has a particular interest in applying the latest advancements in Large Language Models.
He enjoys thinking and working in an interdisciplinary way, integrating methods and perspectives from different fields. While his research spans several disciplines, Leonardo has a special interest in economic development, wealth inequality and economic geography.
He is also collaborating with the International Labour Organization, where he researches on the rise of wealth inequality using Network Science and Game Theory. Before joining the University of Bristol, Leonardo was a Research Associate at the Alan Turing Institute, where he worked at the Policy Modelling group and with the Online Safety team.
