Professor Peter Grindrod CBE is co-director of our Smart Energy Data Service. He is based at the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oxford.
Pete’s research includes novel ideas for neuromorphic information processing: developing whole cortex simulations via Kuramoto types of models. He is also interested in the inner workings of AI, both in supervised classification using ML/DL and in the use of generative models.
Other areas of focus include scientific research strategy and research funding prioritisation, encouraging unconventional and non-consensual research, developing high-risk and high-impact research outcomes, corporate and academic collaborations.
Pete’s work also includes leadership for R&D teams in both commercial and academic research groups.
Pete is a founding trustee of The Alan Turing Institute. He is chairman and founder of Hare Analytics Limited and chairman and founder of GTTA Limited. Pete is a director and founder of CountingLab Limited and the founder and former director of Numbercraft Limited.
He is also a former independent member of the MOD Defence Scientific Advisory Council, a former member of the EPSRC Council, a former member of the BBSRC Council, a former member of the RCUK Digital Economy programme advisory board, and a former President of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
