Bartolomeo Meletti

Bartolomeo Meletti is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Head of Knowledge Exchange at CREATe, the Centre for Regulation of the Creative Economy at the University of Glasgow.

Bart’s main area of expertise is copyright law, with a focus on how the law regulates and enables the use of existing content. Throughout his career, Bart has translated empirical research into a variety of digital resources designed to demystify copyright law and support informed decision‑making, such as CopyrightUser.org and CopyrightUser.eu. His SDR UK Fellowship extends this approach by co-developing legal and technical infrastructure to unlock cultural and creative data for research, innovation, and responsible AI.

Bart is also a research fellow of the Creative Industries Policy & Evidence Centre; a board member of the EUscreen foundation; a member of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance (LACA) and the Europeana Copyright Community Steering Group; and a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA).

In 2015, alongside Ronan Deazley, Bart received the AHRC Innovation Award for Research in Film. This was for their work ‘The Adventure of the Girl with the Light Blue Hair’, the first episode in ‘The Game is On‘ web series.
