Welcome to the third session of our academic Knowledge Basecamp. Hosted by Smart Data Research UK, this series is designed to equip the next generation of smart data researchers with the professional skills needed to thrive.
Our academic community Knowledge Basecamp sessions are designed to be a collaborative, peer-supported space built specifically for our academic community. Throughout this series, we will move away from standard academic lectures and instead focus on practical career toolkits, workspace wellbeing, and candid discussions with expert mentors who have successfully navigated the early-career landscape.
About this event
A 60-minute interactive masterclass for researchers on navigating the everyday challenges of PhD life, our guest speaker for this session is Alessia Calafiore, a lecturer in Sustainability and Urban Data Science at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, and an investigator at the Geographic Data Service.
Many people start a PhD expecting the main challenge to be the research itself, only to discover that managing relationships, expectations, and workload is just as important. In this interactive session, we will explore some of the less discussed aspects of doctoral life.
